Savoury Mince

Savory mince can be used in a variety of dishes.


  1. Cottage Pie: Top the savory mince with mashed potatoes and bake until golden brown.

  2. Tacos: Cook the savory with Mexican spices and use it as the filling for tacos or enchiladas.

  3. Stuffed Peppers: Stuff bell peppers with savory mince, rice, and cheese, and bake until tender. This colorful and flavourful dish is perfect for a family dinner.

  4. Savoury Mince Pies: Use savory mince as the filling for individual pies. Top with puff pastry and bake until golden brown.

  5. Jacket Potatoes: Bake your potatoes till crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and top with savory mince and cheese. Serve with a side of sour cream.

  6. Sloppy Joes: Cook the savory mince with onions, garlic, and tomato sauce, and serve on buns. This classic American dish is always a hit.

  7. Curry mince: Add 3 tablespoons of curry powder to the onion and garlic mix and fry for a minute and then follow the recipe. Serve with rice.

Ingredients

3 tablespoons Oil

500g Beef mince - can also use half beef half pork mince

1 onion, finely chopped

1 teaspoon Crushed garlic

2 Potatoes, peeled and cut into cubes

1 punnet Mushroom, sliced

1 Carrot, diced

1/2 cup Frozen peas

1/4 cup Frozen corn

2 tablespoons Tomato paste

2 tablespoons chopped parsley

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon ground pepper

1 Beef stock cube - dissolved in 250ml boiling water


Method

Heat the oil in a pan and fry the onions till soft, add the garlic and fry for a minute.

Add the mushrooms and sauté until golden.

Add the mince and tomato paste and fry till light brown.

Add the vegetables, potatoes, salt, pepper, and beef stock.

Let this simmer for 20-30 minutes till fragrant then stir the parsley through.
